Inca Trail | Machu Picchu | The Return

The big day.

Got on the first train of the morning leaving Aguas Calientes.

This stretch of rail is the most expensive in South America. I got to see the mountains from the valley floor and the comfort of modern life. But it is not the same, not even close.

The train left me at Ollantaytambo, and I hitched a ride in a taxi to Cusco with other hikers. We took a quick piss stop on the side of the road at the driver’s request. The views of the mountains and the agricultural fields were breathtaking.

Once in Cusco, I took another taxi straight to the airport.

A few hours layover in Lima was spent, guess where? in the back of yet another taxi doing a little sightseeing. The traffic was just horrible and the drivers… well.
