Camino Portugues Coastal | Day 4
Marinhas to Viana do Castelo 21.23 km
One minute update
Full episode
Welcome to day four on the Camino Portugues. The one and only rainy day of the entire trip. Breakfast at the bar where I decided to retreat to the Coastal route for the day as the rain and the gusts of wind made the litoral the wrong place to be.
After walking uphill over wet cobblestone roads, I took shelter in the forest with the company of the flowers and the animals of the area. A spectacular river crossing, and I was in a new and the last district in Portugal before crossing into Spain.
A café in Chafé with a burger, and I was ready to tackle the rest of the day.
Met a group of pilgrims by a monastery before the final climb into Viana do Castelo. The wind was kicking and the shoulder as narrow as they come on the metal bridge over the Lima river.
It was a night in the company of new pilgrims’ friends and an albergue that will go down as the weirdest and most dangerous of all my travels.
Have a nice day.
