VIA FRANCIGENA | Day 46
Pont Saint Martin to Ivrea, 22 km
in an effort to beat the elements I navigated the signs along vine-covered hills overlooking small towns. The Aosta valley was a thing of the past and so were the alps.
The narrow shoulder on the road should have scared me but I’ve been through worst. It was a handful of grapes for a midmorning snack… again.
It didn’t take long for the rain to arrive. Luckily, I was at a bar enjoying a cappuccino when it did. On the flip side, it gave two German pilgrims the chance to catch up.
The road gave way for muddy and bumpy terrain.
I made it to Ivrea before lunchtime too bad it rained all afternoon, but I still saw a thing or two. Who knew this place was a wild water rafting paradise?
Thanks to Emilia’s donation I stayed in a tiny room on the fifth floor of a Chinese hostel. It was perfect and so was the Pizza I had to close the night.
