VIA FRANCIGENA | Day 60
Cassio to Passo della Cisa, 18.7 km
Met two new Italian pilgrim friends over breakfast before leaving one of the best Ostello of the trip on a chilly morning. I shared a drink with my new buddy to warm up.
Left Cassio and walked downhill on the road for the next couple of hours. It was an overcast morning with beautiful views but there is always a critic (Dogs barking).
I decided to follow the via off trail for the last push into Berceto. Where I found a chair at a café and settled in, enjoying a snack with the locals as the weekend market was in full swing in the town’s square.
The going got tough as the remaining of the day was an uphill climb on uneven terrain. It was cheese, bread and a bottle of Champagne to celebrate.
a full out pilgrim reunion as we came across Dirk at the Ostello. Where there were two now there are three. The afternoon got gloomy and rainy. Thanks to Elke an Alex Lea’s donation I shared a spacious dorm with Dirk.
Dinner was a blast in good company and so was the fire place.
