VIA FRANCIGENA | Day 61
Passo della Cisa to Pontremoli, 19.3 km
Late breakfast on a 19km Sunday. like a bad bunny, I planned out and made my escape with the gang. It was three pilgrims up to no good walking on the road as the trails were too muddy and slippery or so we heard.
I conquered my second summit of the trip at 1041 m. The sun came out and so did the bikers, the place was full of them. And we are now in Tuscany baby.
Picnic on the side of the road with bikes whooshing by inches away. We were lucky we didn’t end up like this guy. To be honest, Pontremoli took me by surprise. It was a lively medieval town rich in history.
A round of beers to cool off at the main plaza with a little snack. Thanks to Alex’s donation I stayed at the Convento Padri Cappuccini across the railway station.
Laundry on the terrace with a great view of the town and the priest feeding a goat on the backyard.
I head over to a restaurant at sunset and the place offered a full three-course pilgrim meal, with wine and coffee for 11 euros you can’t beat that.
