VIA FRANCIGENA | Day 79
Radicofani to Acquapendente, 24 km
Great sleep last night at the Ostello, and I woke up to a cold, windy morning. It was a coffee to warm up, and I was out of the historic village and onto the open hills.
Fantastic views of Tuscany all around with grazing sheep on the hills and their master. I keep seeing signs to Jerusalem, and the idea is now bouncing in my head.
Beer with the gang and the crunchiest of prosciutto sandwich at a bar on the side of the road. I also met a Scottish cyclist riding to Rome. The last 12 km were on a very busy road.
It was at a bridge over a dried river bed that I said my goodbyes to Tuscany and entered the province of Lazio, of which Rome is its capital.
Made it to Acuapandente and thanks to Tom and Amanda’s donations I booked a room at a hotel atop a restaurant. Went straight to get a Gelato at a place recommended by Sara Moreno on Facebook.
I got a new passport at the pilgrim’s office and had dinner at the restaurant with pilgrims on every table. It was a full house.
